This paper explores how a basic lubrication program implemented in the year 2000 progressively moved to pacesetter performance in 2006. Lubrication is the bloodline of rotating equipment. Through proper handling, contamination control, personnel education, and testing, there is great potential for increased equipment reliability along with reduced costs. The author demonstrates how a good lubrication program can help move equipment reliability from standard to outstanding.
